How do professionals get rid of bed bugs

Exterminators are professionals who assist with issues related to the eradication of bed bugs. They have undergone extensive training with respect to bed bug biology and characteristics. Given their training they know where to look in your apartment for signs of infestation. Typically, when the infestation level is low, you would not need a home service by experts. So, “how do professionals get rid of bed bugs?” well that is what this article is going to address. Click for Product Review…

What Are Bed Bugs?

Bed bugs are tiny insects that tend to be very swift on their feet, and feed on the blood of mainly humans. They are reddish-brown in color, especially after a meal, and they give off an offensive smell. The offensive odor enhances the ease of spotting them. Bed bugs are about 3/16th of an inch in size and tend to move in groups. The female bed bug lays eggs which are white and sticky and hatch every 7 days.

Conventional Methods

Most homeowners rely on conventional methods to get rid of bed bugs, when the infestation isn’t severe. Traditional techniques may include the application of Diatomaceous Earth (DE) on the affected areas or using a stiff brush to scrub mattresses. This helps subsequently remove bed bugs and their eggs before they hatch.

Other means involve cleaning beddings, linens, curtains, and clothing in hot water, followed by drying with the highest dryer setting. For stuffed animals, shoes, and other items that may not require washing homeowners can place them in a tightly sealed bag and put them under the sun.

Some people use vacuums on their beds or encase mattresses and box springs with a firmly laced, zippered cover. They do this to prevent bedbugs from gaining access or escaping. Other steps involve repairing cracks with plaster which deals with bugs that seek refuge in such areas.

How the Professionals Get Rid of Bed Bugs

Professionals use a different approach, which tends to be more severe compared to the conventional methods adopted by homeowners. Their methods are more technical in nature, and quite expensive to use. When you hire a professional, they typically come around for inspection, so as to establish the severity of your bed bug problem.

Some professionals come around with dogs to sniff out the bed bug-infested zones to cut down inspection time. The trained dogs are useful when there are lots of rooms to inspect. This is common with hostels, hotels, school classrooms, complexes, or plazas. This phase is followed by treatment with heat, which involves the use of large industrial heaters, placed strategically in areas supposedly affected by bed bugs.

Humans and animals stay away from the treatment zone for another 10 to 15 hours, in order to ensure complete annihilation and allow for cooling.

Although this technique is a summary of how professionals get rid of bed bugs, it is not a hundred percent guaranteed, or else combined with a few conventional methods as stated above. Read More…
