Tips on how to check for bed bugs in a hotel

Tips on how to check for bed bugs in a hotel will be the focus of this article. One of the significant places to find a bed bug infestation is hotel rooms. The reason for this is that hotels usually have a large volume of people moving in and out of it, and some of these people can be transported mediums for bed bugs. One of the characteristics attributed to bed bugs is that they are amazing hitchhikers who can easily gain entrance into any place by simply latching themselves to a bag, clothing or any other object.

If you are a serial traveler who spends quite a number of times in hotel rooms, you should take certain precautions if you don’t want to take some bed bugs home with you. Below are some tips on how to search for bed bugs

Take your time to unpack

Before you unpack your bags and luggage in any hotel room, scan through the room, and look for a safe place like the bathroom (specifically bathtubs or bathroom floor) to keep your items first. Don’t put your bags on the rack or wardrobe as bed bugs are known to take their harborage in those places. Immediately your bags are safe, carry out a thorough scan of the entire room and check for bed bugs signs. Bed bugs usually hide in places like under the mattress, furniture, picture frames, luggage rack, and wardrobe. You should also check any crack or crevice close to the bed, as these are major areas where bed bugs rest and breed.

Look for bed bugs signs

Although bed bugs are stealthy insects, they still leave a couple of signs of their presence in and around the hotel room. Generally, the signs include; fecal stains, blood stains, eggs, empty exoskeleton, skin sheds, and bed bugs.

As soon as you notice any of these signs, put a call through to the front desk of the hotel, and ask for a room change preferably into another part of the hotel. For extra protection, keep your items and bags in a plastic bag all through your stay in the hotel.

Keep your clothes apart

Bed bugs are attracted to dirty laundry, as it provides a haven for them to hide and breed. The smell of dirty laundry gives out an inviting smell to bed bugs, unlike clean clothes. It is recommended that you keep all dirty laundry in a plastic bag separate from your clean clothes so that you don’t facilitate the spread of bed bugs within your items.

Pay special attention to your room

Exercise home like producers in your hotel room if you want to prevent these tiny bugs from following you home. That means you must take extreme care and caution in all through your stay in the hotel. Don’t seat on any furniture without inspecting for bedbugs, and don’t wander into other rooms without first making sure that there are no bedbugs in sight. For more articles and tips Click Here…
