Do you know how to get rid of bed bugs naturally? If you don’t, there’s nothing to worry about. We will talk about the different natural remedies for bed bug bites.

Bed bugs are tiny parasitic insects that can become a source of concern.  They are attracted to blood and can get into any house, even if the house is kept clean. If you have pets or small children, learning to identify bed bug bites is a priority.  Once you find a bed bug bite, then you have a bed bug problem. Deal with the infestation immediately and treat the bed bug bites as soon as possible.

There are some medications you can buy from your local drug store to treat the bites. But, if you want to use only natural remedies, here are some options for you:

1.    Soap and water

No matter your chosen method of treating bed bug bites, this should always be your first step. Add soap to water and wash the surface thoroughly. Massage for a little while and let the soap dry on the skin. Afterward, wash off the lather from the skin. This should provide instant relief from the itching sensation and wash away all germs that might cause infection in the future.

2.    Lemon Juice

Soak a ball of cotton wool in lemon juice and apply directly to the bites.  This can help reduce the itching, swelling and prevent infections. However, never apply lemon juice on open skin. In addition, some people are sensitive to lemon juice. Be careful when using it.

3.    Aloe vera

When people think about how to get rid of bed bug bites, aloe vera never comes to mind. However, aloe vera is very effective. It has potent ingredients that can soothe your skin, ease the itching and prevent inflammation. It can also serve as a protective covering over the bite marks, so they can heal properly.

4.    Banana peels

Bananas are good for you in many ways and off course; the skin has beautiful functions as well. Banana peels can neutralize the itching sensation and moisturize your skin.

5.    Essential oils

Essential oils can also help with inflammation or itchiness. They also have anti-microbial effects that can prevent prevention. However, if you have allergic reactions avoid using essential oils. Make sure you also dilute the essential oil in carrier oil before use. Some essential oils you can try include tea tree oils, peppermint and menthol oils, lemongrass oils, camphor oils, and lavender oils.

Apart from knowing how to get rid of bed bug bites naturally, pay attention to signs of allergies or secondary infections. Some people have delayed allergic reactions after the first few days. Secondary infection can also result for many reasons including delayed reactions to the bug bites. Get emergency medical care, if you notice signs of pus or drainage, fever, chills, pains and tenderness, nausea, vomiting, dizziness or trouble breathing.
